The important thing to remember about music is that it is only made up of two things, tone and timbre. Tone being what frequency is being utilized, and timbre being how the frequency is being used, such as what instrument or source of sound. Timbre is the flavor, tone is the substance.
The best way i could explain key would be that it is your sonic and tonal palette for a musical painting. so the colors in a painting can be related to notes in a key/scale. some colors go very well together (green/blue/purple) while others clash (green/red). although this is not intrinsically good or bad, an artist can utilize matching color schemes (consonance) or clashing schemes (dissonance). most musicians use consonance because they want to create pleasing musics. some musicians like myself use dissonance for different reasons. so, a key is nothing but a predetermined set of notes that sound well together. arrangements are created from selecting certain orders of notes from this key. so, ultimately a key is the musician’s color palette.

A Great Musician Died Today
It’s a sad day when any musician dies. When any human dies for that matter. Today, we lost a great soul in Gil Scott. May he rest in peace and his music reach the far corners of the world.

just found this old show flyer. This show was probably THE most ridiculous show we’ve ever had in Roanoke. An all out ridiculous, can’t forget it if you wanted to, performance from Generation and Bleak End At Bernie’s, a classic energetic set by Three Brained Robot and then i closed out the night, hopefully giving people a little time to breathe.
I do music so i can have memories like this one.

Yer Heart is known for being awesome and from Portalnd, OR and touring with Madeline Ava.
Arte Povera is playing too. Known for making noise and throwing guitars.

Miles Nighthawk—
hey guys it’s me— NATHAN aka Miles Nighthawk
I wanted to let you know that I have started a band, Boy Party, with Zach.
But, less importantly, I wanted to let you know that the last Miles Nighthawk show will be sometime probably in April. I am actually trying to get the show set up now, but I haven’t made any final arrangements/trying to get things set up.
I am hoping to play it at the place where I played my first show - CFBG’s. That was the only time I played there and it was a perfect night. Here’s to hoping the last show can/will be. I will keep you updated.
miles nighthawk is dead. WHY? Because I get more grief than joy out of playing these songs. My guitar never stays in tune and I can’t write emotional songs very well. I want to focus on Boy Party because I have a lot of fun playing those songs and it’s great to play with other people. I don’t think I will want to play these songs this summer and I am going off to college next year and probably won’t want to/have the time to then. In all honesty, I will probably start playing solo shows again next year but I will not be playing these songs and I won’t be Miles Nighthawk.

What is Cookout? A normal cookout goes like this:
“You open a styrafoam clamshell and lunge at a four chicken nuggets. After devouring these perfectly cooked beauties, you unravel a silver wrapped up hamburger to find The Big Double Hamburger with Everything On It. This burger has EVERYTHING on it! Two patties, cheese, mayo, barbecue sauce, pickles, coleslaw, chili, tomatoes, onions, bacon and I’m sure even more. Then after eating this amazing hamburger, you relaize you still have a whole damn bacon wrap as well! After this you realize you only spent about 4 bucks. What the heck?”
